All normal logistical functions like arranging freight rates, securing freight space, and providing tracking of the fruit is handled in house, while the more labor and administratively challenging functions which are used, are out sourced.

Relationships with excellent specialized shipping, trucking and quality control operations both here and worldwide, allow us to keep our own costs to a minimum while allowing the producer to benefit from the vigorous rate negotiations that take place on their behalf.

Base for instance was instrumental in negotiating the first loadings of citrus through the much closer port of Maputo, thus giving the producer the advantage of a much shorter inland traveling distance, with the attendant cost savings associated with this.

PACKING & ACCREDITATION

All the packhouses that are associated with Base, are Europgap and/or HACCP accredited.

Quality Assurance controls and other important accreditation criteria such as the Fair Trade Code are taken care of by independent practitioners.

A Black Economic Empowerment initiative is presently being undertaken and Base will be accredited soon.
